England Premium wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow who suffered a left-hand middle finger injury during 3rd Test at Trent Bridge has now fit to play in 4th test at Southampton.
England wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow recovered from his broken finger to play as a specialist batsman against India in 4th Test at Southampton. Jos Buttler will keep the stumps for England which is very like to like a choice for England.
England head coach Trevor Bayliss has talked to 28 years old wicketkeeper-batsman during a training session on Tuesday and told him that he will play as a specialist batsman in the playing XI for the 4th Test.
Jonny Bairstow looked good during the press conference and he also shows his interest of being able to keep wicket in Southampton. However, England captain Joe Root cleared that Bristow will play as a specialist batsman and Buttler will keep wicket in 4th Test.
Bristow was very keen to keep wicket at Southampton said “If you look at the stats they suggest I’m better [batting] if I keep wicket,” he said. “I’d like to keep my spot as a keeper because I like to think it’s gone well over the last 38 or 39 Tests since I’ve been keeping for England.
Root said in Press conference ” “We’re very fortunate to be blessed with two brilliant international keepers,” said Root. “Jos has a huge amount of experience. It’s a no-brainer with a slight injury to Jonny that Jos comes in to take that role”.
Yorkshire Wicketkeeper batsman is England’s premium run-scorer in the series. He will be key for England at Southampton and his presence will provide England wobble batting some strength as host won’t underestimate his batting importance for them in 4th Test.
