Former captain Ajit Wadekar passed away at the age of 77 yesterday. Former team India cricketer, Sanjay Manjrekar in multiple tweets remembered the former skipper and shared his memory.

The commentator wrote, “Ajit Wadekar’s impact on Indian cricket is immense. His contemporaries worshipped him, such was his aura. Found him to be a tough character as coach. Exceptional Indian cricketer… RIP Sir.”

Sanjay Manjrekar, 53 also added that he was glad to have made a video of him last year. “Recorded this on my iPhone last Dec from Point in a friendly fixture. So glad I did.”  He also shared a picture with him.

Wadekar who made his debut in 1966 against WI and represented team India in 37 tests & 2 ODIs. He was a player, captain, coach, and chairman of selectors in his cricketing journey. The govt. honored him Padma Shri in 1972.
