Since Virat Kohli became captain of India Test Team in 2014. He has captained India in 40 Test Matches and changed his playing eleven in 34 Test. This stat clearly gives the idea of the uncertainty in Virat Kohli mind while picking his best eleven. His habit is not only limited to the Test. But he does the same thing for his franchise RCB in the IPL. Kohli’s frequent change in the side did not help his players to get settled to provide productive performance for the sake of the team.

The Indian captain has developed patience in his batting. But he still need’s to develop patience in his captaincy to get results in a tough situation.

Virat Kohli is not providing proper confidence to his players

If you drop any batsman or bowler in the basis of one poor performance than it created the negative impression on the player’s mind. Indian batting has big names like Shikhar Dhawan, Murli Vijay, Ajinkya Rahane, Pujara, and Rahul. But all these batsmen have the mental pressure of getting drop if they don’t perform. That is a reason Indian batsman is playing overdefensive cricket against England bowlers. Apart from Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya none of the other batsmen is playing their natural game due to mental block of failure. Hardik Pandya is playing fearless cricket because the captain has provided him confidence that he will play all the overseas matches.

No 1 Test batsman have to provide the same sort of support to their top and middle order batsman. He should have to learn to persist with the same team for most of the matches.

I think Virat Kohli can remember his 2014 tour. Where MS Dhoni persist with him despite his dismal performance of 134 runs, Average 13 in 10 innings.

Kl Rahul is playing his first tour in England. Kohli should talk to him and try to give him confidence moving on to 3rd Test Match.
