Sri Lanka on Friday stunned South Africa by claiming 1 wicket win in the first of two match test series away from home.

Visitors chased down 304 runs target to win the test match.

Kusal Perera remained unbeaten on 153.

Scorecard: SL 191 & 304/9; SA 235 & 259

Vishwa Fernando claimed 7 wickets. Lasith Embuldeniya scalped 6 wickets including a 5 wicket haul.

De kock scored 80 and 55 runs, skipper Faf Du Plessis contributed 35 and 90 runs but other players from home team failed to make their mark.

SL has lost their previous test series against England 3-0 at home and 2-0 against Aussies in Australia.

A win should be a confidence booster for them as their recent limited overs performances too aren’t good.
