The much-anticipated line-up of RR failed to gel up in their opening game of the tournament
Big faces like D’Arcy Short, captain Ajinkya Rahane, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler failed to impress.
Shikhar Dhawan continued his sheer form with unbeaten 77 runs to help his side to chase the small target convincingly
Sunrise Hyderabad started their campaign in Vivo IPL 2018 with an astonishing win over returning Rajasthan Royals. Their side looked packed with all the ingredients required to lift the trophy. They have a most balanced side in the tournament. Kane Williamson leads SRH superbly in his first assignment as a captain for the franchise in IPL.
Whereas Ajinkya Rahane disappointed with his captaincy for Rajasthan. He first failed to give his side good start and later dropped the important wicket of Shikhar Dhawan in the slip.
The big buys for RR Ben Stokes and Unadkat were out of colors. Jaydev performance in 2018 was not up to the mark. He failed to impress in NIDHAS trophy in Sri Lanka. While Stokes too won’t have the fruitful comeback after his return from the criminal case. Both the player’s performance is vital if RR wants to succeed in the IPL 2018.
Hyderabad ticked all boxes with team combination and performance. They use Wriddhiman Shah as an opener did not work but it was a brave step. Because they do not have any regular opener in their eleven and middle order and lower order was packed with many quality players. Shah natural sting as an aggressive batsman will help SRK to give quick start and he can also take the burden of Dhawan.
Sunrisers Hyderabad has one of the best bowling line up in the tournament. They have Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddharth Kaul, and quick Billy Stanlake. Which is followed by strong spin bowlers like Rashid Khan and Shakib Al Hasan.
Rajasthan also has a very good side but they have to bring their A game in every match in the tournament. Jofra Archer Comeback will definitely improve their combination.
Brief Score: RR 125/9 (20.0 Ovs) SRH 127/1 (15.5 Ovs)
Note: Shikhar Dhawan won the man of the match award
