The first of three-match T20I series between India and New Zealand will be held today at Westpac Stadium. 

Team India has already won the ODI series 4-1. NZ will look to bounce back in the shorter format.

Psychological advantage– NZ has previously defeated India in the only T20I held at the venue and won 6 of their 8 matches against India in this format.

Note: India defeated NZ in 50 over match held in Wellington.

Siddharth Kaul or Khaleel Ahmed could start the bowling proceedings with Bhuvneshwar Kumar in absence of players- Jasprit Bumrah and Mohd. Shami

Shubman Gill on the bench (The youngster failed to make an impact in his first two games for the men in blue.)

Tim Southee in place of Trent Boult in the bowling line up for Kiwis, Jimmy Neesham replaces Martin Guptill in T20I squad.

Southee bowls at an average of 13.77 at Westpac Stadium.

All-rounder Scott Kuggeleijn who impressed on debut (in January against S) is likely to be in the playing XI for the Blackcaps.

Weather-  There are rare chances of light rain showers, it will be cloudy and windy.

Rohit Sharma needs just 36 runs to break Martin Guptill record (2272 runs) and become all-time highest run-getter in the shortest version of the game.

ICC’s emerging player of 2018- Rishabh Pant will be back.
