Murali Vijay scored a century against Cricket Australia XI on the final day of the practice match held at Sydney.

He hit 129 runs in 132 deliveries with the help of 16 fours and 5 sixes. The performance will built confidence ahead of the test series.

The 34-year-old is likely to open in the Adelaide test after Prithvi Shaw got his ankle injured while fielding on Friday.

Vijay has suffered a lot after the selectors didn’t do him a world of good in England and his own form was also a concern in last few matches.

KL Rahul also scored 61 runs after falling for just 3 runs in 1st innings.

Earlier, Mohd Shami picked three wickets for India while hosts also enjoyed batting scoring 544 as compared to India’s 358.

India was 211-2 when the game ended in a draw.
