Indian opener Murali Vijay scored 128 as India took control of the second test with a lead of 107* runs. He scored 128runs of just 221 deliveries in the day two of the second Test match between India and Sri Lanka held at the Vidarbha Cricket Association in Nagpur. He was playing in white uniform after 8 months long and did not feature in the previous test held at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
With Shikhar Dhawan’s absence due to personal reasons, Murali Vijay made sure that he plays up to his potential went on to score his 10th hundred as India’s test opener only after Virender Sehwag (22) and Sunil Gavaskar (33). He had a strike rate of 45 while scoring his half-century then it increased to over 60. He has been an impactful player and a lot of question were raised in the previous game in which he did not feature.
Cheteswar Pujara continues his prime form
Pujara is unbeaten on 121 and continued his good form after a good run in the Ranji Trophy and the last test match. He has also been involved in the all-time best average in part’ship with Murali Vijay for team India.
The No.3 batsman Chestwar Pujara also brought his 14th ton on the same day and is unbeaten with Virat Kohli who is batting on 54. Both Pujara and Kohli are expected to continue their dominance after 3 day starts on Sunday.
Sri Lanka looked shaky
Sri Lanka looked pretty shaky when it comes to the day of the second test match. they were not able to pick up wickets managing just one of Murali Vijay. After trying their efforts in the first and second session, they looked completely poor in the last session. They were bowled out for just 205 runs in their first innings on Day 1 of the ongoing test.
Dinesh Chandimal captaincy did not seem to help the Lankans at all to rescue them from Indian batting masterclass of Murali Vijay and Cheteswar Pujara. With Kohli coming into the act might create a lot of problem for them if they do not start well on Sunday.
