Indian women’s cricketer takes the inspiration from men’s team to dented proteas spirit in 1st ODI. India resumes their game where they left in ICC Women’s World cup. It was one-way traffic for the Indian team in two consecutive days against the same opponent. Earlier men’s team defeated South Africa in 2nd ODI. Now women’s team did the same. Indian cricket has a great start of 2018.

India women’s team looked well balanced and stronger compare to South Africa. South Africa has great bowling attack but they are struggling in their batting department.

The 1st match of the series played at Diamond Oval, Kimberley. Where visitor India won the toss and elected to bat first. India started their innings on a bright note as the duo of Poonam Raut 19 & Smriti Mandhana 84 added 55 runs for the opening wicket. Later Captain Mithali Raj joined Smriti to add 100 runs partnership of the 2ns wicket. South Africa rolled back into the match with three quick wickets in just 5 runs. Which includes the wicket of  Smriti  Mandhana, Mithali Raj, and Veda Krishnamurthy. However, Harmanpreet Kaur 16 and Sushma Verma 15 revive India at some instinct. But with the fall of their wickets, India end their innings at 213 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

South Africa women’s began their chase on a poor note there top order drilled by the Indian fast bowler Shikha Pandey. She took opening three wickets of Proteas batting to leave them tottering at 23-3. Indian spinners kept it tight and won’t allowed South African batsman to switch partnership. Wrist Spinner Poonam Yadav further demolishes host batting with her 2 scalps. India’s most experienced bowler Gowswami ended the will of South African lower order and their tail with her 4 wickets.

South Africa bowled out for just 125 runs in 43.2 overs.
