India A on Sunday defeated New Zealand A by 5 wickets in the second unofficial ODI and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series held at Mount Maunganui.

India A won the toss and opted to bowl first. Blackcaps A side scored 299/9 in their 50 overs on the back of a strong performance by Will Young (102) and George Worker (99) who missed on his ton.

Khaleel Ahmed and Navdeep Saini scalped two wickets each.

In reply, India chased down the total with an over to spare by 5 wickets. Skipper, Manish Pandey scored unbeaten 111 runs. Vijay Shankar and Shreyas Iyer scored 59 runs each.

Openers, Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill added 25 runs each to the scorecard.

Hamish Benett and Colie McConchie shared two wickets each.

The third and final ODI is set to take place on December 13 and the hosts will be eyeing a consolation victory.
