But the lost the wickets of Matthew Breetzke and skipper Raynard van Tonder in a quick succession. later Jiveshan Pillay, who was batting well on 47  was given out obstructing the field after a controversial appeal in the 17th over.who intervened just in time to prevent the ball going on to hit the stumps, immediately picked it up and threw it to the keeper. The third umpire’s help was sought before Pillay was sent back as per Law 37.4 of the MCC cricket rules.

Wes indies criticized by the cricket fraternity for not playing with the sprit of the game. With his wicket, SA sinks further as the lost Hermann Rolfes and Jason Niemand wickets cheaply. Although Makwetu and Kenan Smith steadied the SA with a watchful partnership. The dismissal of the latter left South Africa in danger of being restricted to a sub-par total. But Makwetu changes the momentum of the game in the favor of protease with his counter-attacking knock of 99 runs. He was well supported by  Jade de Klerk and Gerald Coetzee. Helped South Africa finish with a good total of 282 runs in their 50 overs.

In reply, Windies kept losing wickets at regular intervals and could only finish with 206 to suffer their second loss in as many games.  Hermann Rolfes was the star with the ball for South Africa.

Hermann Rolfes breaks the backbone of west indies batting with his 4 wicket haul.
