The tournament will begin on 13 January in New Zeland.
India have won the tournament in 2000, 2008 and most recently in 2012
Indian under 19 coach Rahul Dravid is confident that Players have been given enough exposure and opportunities to grow.
India was the runner-up of last Under 19 world cup. That was won by the West Indies.
India team arrived New Zeland a week before the tournament starts. It helps them to assess the condition. They have played three good games against Central Districts. Young talented Mumbai sensation Prithvi Shaw will lead India. He is just 18 years old. But he created his name by performing brilliantly in Ranji trophy with more than 50 plus average.
There are many names in Indian under 19 team which will play crucial role to provide India trophy. Shubham Gill is one of those names which is shining for last two years.
Rahul Dravid feels his team is ready for every challenge. Dravid mentioned that there’s ‘obvious talent’ in the group and underscored the importance of guiding promising players coming through the ranks.
NOTE: Indian will play their opening match against Australia. On 14 January in Mount Maunganui.
