The best season of IPL history Vivo IPL 2018 brings up the new champion on the podium to present the trophy. It is non-other than whistle poddu Chennai Super Kings. They won it again for the 3rd time after defeating SRH convincingly by 8 wickets in the final.
Total 51 days and 60 matches thrilling tournament concluded with CSK superhuman response right out of the dressing room no matter which is the ground who is the opposition. They came for the title they win the title.
However, SRH also performed well in their batting department by scoring 178 runs while batting first in the big final. But their biggest strength turns out to be their biggest weakness in the final. Bowlers except Bhuvneshwar and Rashid goes for plenty of runs. Which turn out be a losing cause for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Here is the list of reason which cost SRH their 2nd Title trump.
No one score big from SRH side:
Many Sunrisers Hyderabad got starts but they failed to convert into big runs. The players like Shikhar Dhawan 26 runs, Kane Williamson 47 runs, Shakib Al Hasan 23 got the good start. If one of them could score 70-80 runs then it might create the difference of 20 to 30 runs in their total.
SRH missed to put psychological advantage of 190 runs over CSK :
Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 178 runs while batting 1st in the finals. The target of 179 was also decent score considering the final match chase and SRH bowling attack. But if they able to score few more runs to reach 190 runs mark. It might create psychological pressure on Chennai super kings.
Williamson poor use of his bowlers
SRH bowlers got the fantastic start as they only gave 20 runs in 5 overs and also took one important wicket of Faf Du Plessis. Bhuvneshwar Kumar looked unplayable and Sandeep Sharma to provide him good support from the other end. Shane Watson was facing trouble in playing both the fast bowlers bowling. he scored his 1st run in his 11th ball.
But then in the last over of the powerplay, Kane Williamson gave one more over to Sandeep Sharma. His 3rd in a row. That move turned out to be a game-changing moment for both the side. Shane Watson found his rhythm by hitting one six and one four in the last over of the powerplay. After that, he never looked back and cracked SRH bowlers into pieces by hitting 8 sixes.
Williamson missed the trick. He would give Rashid Khan 6th overs and final over of powerplay. CSK has to score big runs on that over and if Rashid bowled that over. He might pick the wicket of Shane Watson. As we know that Watson struggled against Left-arm spinners and leg spinners. It won’t be easy to hit the best spinner in the format for Sixes and fours in his very first over.
He brings Rashid Khan very late. Till the time match was under the control of CSK. Both Raina and Watson played Rashid sensible didn’t take any risk. Later it all easy in the end for CSK to chase the target with an ease.
Note: Shane Watson Adjudged player of the match for his match-defining knock of 117 runs in just 57 balls.
