The opening match of the Bangladesh Premier League took place at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday. Sylhet Sixers took against Dhaka Dynamite. Sylhet Sixers won the toss and elected to field first. Dhaka Dynamites cored 136 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs. Kumar Sangakkara scored 32 runs while skipper Shakib Al-Hasan, Evin Lewis, and Cameron Delport chipped in with their 20s. Nasir Hussain, Abul Hasan, and Liam Plunkett picked up two wickets each for Sylhet sixers.
Sylhet Sixers had a firing start as both their openers Upul Tharanga and Andre Fletcher scored 69 and 63 respectively. their first wickets fell by the score of 125 as they easily chased down 137 with more than 3 overs to spare as they won the tournament opener by 9 wickets.
