West Indies (WI) defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets in the rain-affected first T20I encounter held at St. Kitts on Tuesday.
The hosts won the toss and opted to bowl first. They started off brilliantly in the field as the openers were out for a duck in the very first over bowled by Ashley Nurse.
However, Liton Das (24) and Mahmudullah’s 35 guided the team to a total of 143 for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs.
Kesrick Williams scalped four wickets while Keemo Paul and A Nurse shared two wickets each.
The rain affected the match as WI was asked to chase down a revised total of 91 runs in 11 overs.
They chased down the total with 7 wickets remaining. Andre Russel hit three each sixes and fours as he scored an unbeaten 35 runs. Marlon Samuels contributed 26 runs. Mustafizur Rahman picked up two wickets.
Andre Russel was Man of the Match for his all-round performance (35 runs + 1 wicket).
