Reeza Hendricks scored a century in his debut ODI as South Africa defeated Sri Lanka by 78 runs at Pallekale on Sunday.
After being invited to bat first, SA posted 363/7 in 50 overs. The 28-year-old right-handed batsman scored 102 runs off just 89 balls that included 8 fours and a six.
Among others, JP Duminy (92) missed on his century. David Miller and Hashim Amla contributed 51 and 59 runs respectively.
Thisara Perera scalped 4 wickets while Lahiru Kumara picked 2 wickets.
In reply, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 285 runs in 45.2 overs. Dhananjaya de Silva was the top-scorer with 84 runs.
Kusal Mendis, Akila Dhananjaya, and skipper Angelo Mathews chipped in with their 30s but couldn’t prevent a loss by 78 runs.
Lungi Ngidi picked four wickets while Andile Phehlukwayo scalped 3 wickets.
Undoubtedly, Reeza Hendricks was Man of the Match.
SA now have an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match ODI series. The next match will take place on August 8.
