Netherlands defeated Nepal by 55 runs in the first ODI held at Amstelveen on Wednesday.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first they were bowled out for 189 runs in 47.4 overs. Micheal Rippon scored 51 runs while Bas de Leede contributed 30 runs. Among others, Stephan Myburgh chipped in with his 29 runs.

Nepal skipper, Paras Khadka picked 4 wickets while Sompal Kami scalped 3.

In reply, the tourists started off well as the openers Gyanendra Malla (51) scored his half-century. Dipendra Singh Airee contributed 33 runs. Nepal were 85 for 2 at one stage but the middle and the lower middle order collapsed very fast they got bowled out for 134 runs in 41.5 overs. Eventually, they lost the match by 55 runs.

Micheal Rippon was Man of the Match.

The next match will be played on Friday.
