Ireland beat Afghanistan by 3 wickets in the second ODI to level the series 1-1 at Belfast on Wednesday.

Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first. They only managed 182/9 in their 50 overs. Najibullah Zadran was the top scorer with 42 runs while Asghar Afghan and Rahmat Shah contributed 39 and 32 runs respectively.

Tim Murtagh was among the pick of the bowler with figures of 10-1-30-4.

 In reply, Ireland lost their first wicket in the very first over but then Paul Stirling (39) and Andrew Balbirnie (60) played well while Simi Singh scored an unbeaten 36 runs to finish off the innings for the hosts as they chased down the target in 43.5 overs.

Rashid Khan scalped 3 wickets while Mohammad Nabi managed two wickets.

 

Note: The third and final decider ODI will be played on August 31.
