Bangladesh defeated sluggish Pakistan by 37 runs in the virtual semi-final of Asia cup 2018 to qualify in the final.
Bengal tigers qualified 2nd consecutive time in the final of Asia cup. Last time in 2016 they lost the final match against India.
Mashrafe Mortaza led Bangladesh repeated themselves by Defeating Pakistan in the last super four-match of Asia cup 2018. Pakistan came into the match with the tag of favorites. But they’re below average performance throughout the tournament continued in the match against Bangladesh. Pakistan started the match on the money as they reduced Bangladesh 12-3. Meanwhile, Mushfiqur Rahim (99) once again rescued their team along with Mohammad Mithun (60). The Duo retrieves their side for the 2nd time from the similar sort circumstances in Asia cup 2018. However, Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed was responsible for allowing Bangladesh batsmen to get settled and score runs freely. He disappointed with his field placement and bowling changes in the crucial juncture of the match.
At one stage, Bangladesh looked good to post 270 plus target for Pakistan. But they lost two wickets very quickly after mammoth 144 runs partnership between Mithun and Rahim. Junaid Khan performed astonishingly with the ball as he picked 4 wickets in his first match for Pakistan in Asia cup 2018. Bangladesh could only manage to score 239 runs on the board.
Pakistan was seemed to boost up as they restricted the opponents below 250 runs. Though, Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman once again perished in the 1st over of Pakistan innings for just 1 run. Mustafizur Rahman pushed Pakistan on the backfoot with two quick strikes of Babar Azam and captain Sarfaraz Ahmed to left Pakistan tottering at 18-3. While opener Imam-Ul-Haq (82) and Shoaib Malik (30) revive their side. But the blinder catch of Malik from Bangladeshi captain Mortaza turned the match in Bangladesh favor. Pakistan tried to take match close, but the pressure mounted by Bangladesh spinner forced Pakistani batsman to commit a mistake as both set batsmen Imam and Asif got out in two back to back overs. In the end, Pakistan could only manage to score 202 runs in their 50 overs and they were 37 runs short from the target. Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the bowler for Bangladesh as he took 4 wickets in his 10 overs.
