Afghanistan defeated Ireland by 29 runs in the first of the three-match ODI series at Belfast on Monday.

Ireland won the toss & opted to bowl first. Batting first, Afghanistan scored 227/9. Gulbadin Naib (64) and Hashmatullah Shahidi (54) scored their half centuries.

Tim Murtagh picked 4 wickets while Boyd Rankin scalped 3 wickets.

In reply, Ireland team were bowled out for 198 runs in 48.3 overs. Andrew Balbirnie top scored with 55 runs while Gary Wilson contributed 38 runs.

Aftab Alam, Mohammad Nabi, and Rashid Khan scalped three wickets.

The next ODI will be played on August 29.
