Ian Chappell on Sunday said that team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya can take some cue from Ben Stokes bowling during the ongoing series.
The former Australian captain, Chappell also believes that the performance could prove to be a defining one in his career. Moreover, he is of the idea that all-rounder should bat at the No.6 position.
“India’s search for a seam-bowling allrounder is still a work in progress but Hardik Pandya displayed determination and discipline to go with his undoubted skills in an important partnership with Kohli,” Chappell wrote in his column for ESPN Cricinfo website.
“Perhaps a move to No 6 would further bolster his batting confidence and if he can also profit from watching Stokes’ efforts with the ball, this could be a defining series for the talented all-rounder,” he stressed.
Hardik Pandya went wicketless in his 10 overs during the first innings and didn’t bowl in the second innings. He showed a bit of perseverance with his batting in which he scored 31 runs and built a partnership of 29 runs with the skipper. He was also the last man to get out giving some hopes to the visitors.
