India skipper Virat Kohli and Aussie batsman Steve Smith are known to give tough competition to each other in international cricket, but also shared wonderful moments on the field. The cricket governing body International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday took to Twitter to share one of those rare moments during the last year’s 50-over World Cup. “#OnThisDay last year, Virat Kohli and Steve Smith shared this wonderful moment in #CWC19 #SpiritOfCricket,” ICC wrote along with the video on Twitter.

The incident occurred during a group stage match between India and Australia. Kohli stepped up to silence the crowd who were booeing Smith following his return to International cricket after completing a one-year ban due to ball-tampering incident in 2018.
“With India fans giving Steve Smith a tough time fielding in the deep, @imVkohli suggested they applaud the Australian instead. Absolute class,” ICC had tweeted last year.
Kohli had won ‘Spirit of Cricket’ award for his class-apart gesture in England. India and Australia failed to enter the finals of the tournaments. The hosts England won the World Cup after defeating New Zealand by a margin of boundary after super over ended in a tie.
